Pollution Liability Insurance for Contractors
Victor's Pollution Liability insurance policy protects contractors against claims for third party bodily injury, third party property damage or third party environmental damage, including cleanup costs, caused by pollution conditions resulting from the performance of their work.
Eligibility
Various contractors responsible for either environmental or non-environmental operations are eligible for pollution liability insurance, whether acting as a general contractor, subcontractor or construction manager. Examples:
- Fire and flood restoration
- Asbestos/Lead/Mould abatement
- Tank installation or removal
- Excavation
- Sewer/Water
- Demolition
- Marine
- Site restoration
Contractors and owners are eligible for project-specific pollution liability insurance on our Contractor-Controlled (CCIP) and Owner-Controlled (OCIP) programs.
Coverage Details
- Policy Form – Occurrence or claims-made and reported
- Policy Period – Annual policies; Multi-year policies for specific projects, including completed operations and extended reporting period
- Capacity – Limits up to $10,000,000 each incident/aggregate
- Standard deductible – $5,000
- Minimum premiums – Contact an underwriter
- Territory – Coverage for claims made in Canada

- Improper supervision of subcontractors which results in pollution conditions
- Completed operations
- Supplementary payments do not reduce the limit of liability (certain conditions apply)
